Alvin says… you can hear footsteps at the start of this track and that was me emulating the effect of walking down an alley, opening a door and going into a smoky club where you hear the song ‘Burnt Fungus.’ That is a marijuana reference. If you magnify the leaves you’ll see they look very much like microscopic mushrooms. It’s Tim Hinkley on the organ but he was calling himself ‘Kit Armstrong’ at the time for some contractual reason. We were in Booker T/Jimmy Smith mode on this slinky groover.
