Heading Home, Canada to Texas

Heading Home, Canada to Texas

This video is about our meandering through Canada on different roads than we traveled when we were headed north. We took this route because we wanted to visit the Canadian Province of Saskatchewan. One of the things that surprised us was the herds of cattle with no fence in site. They do have some cattleguards that are called "Texas Gates."

We crossed into Canada on June 16, and we crossed back into the States on September 17. We learned that Saskatchewan is much like the Texas Panhandle, or Nebraska and Kansas, in that is is grasslands. We definitely drove out of the majestic mountains.

Since we weren't racing home, when Sharon noticed a North Dakota National Historic Site, the Fort Union Trading Post, we stopped. Interestingly enough, the overflow parking is in Montana. We found that humorous, but we were tired. The rangers were extremely knowledgeable about the goods traded and such.

We have enjoyed the Theodore Roosevelt National Park in previous trips, and we were stalling returning to Texas since it was still hot, so we decided a stop at that park would be a great idea. We stayed one night in the north unit, and a couple in the south unit.

On September 27 we were back in the Lone Star State, Texas, and even with the heat, we were glad to be back. We got back home to Central Texas on September 30.
