Preston Bend COE Campground on Lake Texoma

Preston Bend COE Campground on Lake Texoma

In May of 2023 the Two Tired Teachers camped at Preston Bend Recreation Area, a COE park on Lake Texoma. Preston Bend is near the town of Pottsboro, Texas. As the name implies, Lake Texoma is partially in Texas and partially in Oklahoma. You will find lots of Army Corps of Engineers Campgrounds on Lake Texoma in both states.

Preston Bend Recreation Area is a small campground with maybe 30 campsites. You do need reservations to stay at Preston Bend, and you will need to make those reservations at www.recreation.gov.

Sites 1 - 8 are water only. Site 10 looks like a group site. Sites 11 - 15 can accommodate small to medium sized trailers and tow vehicles. We parked on a concrete slab, but we did have to drive across some gravel to get here. If you stay in sites 11 - 15, you will need sharp backing skills. Sites 16 - 19 are water and electric, and look to be for tents only. The remainder of the sites are what look to be traditional RV sites. They are large sites without as much privacy as the rest of the sites. Some are pull through sites.

Since we were on a concrete pad, we didn't think anything about it when we first saw a few ants. Within a day or so, we had some ants inside our trailer. That's when we treated the outside with Seven Dust and we used a spray on the inside. Be aware there are ants that want to live in your RV.

Lake Texoma is a large lovely lake. Two of our subscribers, Peggy and Mike invited us to go out on their boat to fish. We had the best time. They were gracious hosts and guides. I've said before, we love meeting our viewers. We had met Peggy once before at a Texas State Park, and this time we got to meet her husband.

Since Lake Texoma is in two states, fishing licenses are different. The exception to the rule is Eisenhower State Park in Texas. Because it sits on Lake Texoma, as long as you are fishing from the shore or a pier, you don't need a fishing license. If you are fishing on the water -- in a boat, kayak, or canoe -- you need a fishing license. At Preston 'Bend Recreation Area, before we could fish from the pier, we needed a Lake Texoma endorsement. The endorsement is $12 for a year. You do not need a Texas or Oklahoma fishing license to fish Lake Texoma. You may buy the endorsement in either Texas or Oklahoma.
