Can a Tibetan Mastiff take down a wolf all alone or does it have the ability to kill one.

The simple answer to the question is no, although Asiatic wolves are a lot smaller in size as compared to gray or timber wolves.

Still we need to keep in mind that wolves are natural born killers, their skills are far higher than any dog.

Tibetan mastiff may be able to take down a weak or young wolf but even an adult Asiatic wolf isn't an easy task for Tibetan mastiff let alone the gray wolf.

Chinese often raise tibetan mastiffs and wolves together, and dogs may be able to dominate the wolves in captivity but in the wild it's a different story altogether.

In the wild it's the battle of survival and if the wolves are really hungry then chances are that Tibetan Mastiffs won't stand a chance.

Usually people keep these dogs to make owner aware of the predators.

In most cases wolves will avoid the confrontation with dogs and their barks would keep them at a bay.

But if the food is scarce and they have nothing else to feed on then wolves will go to any extent to get their food.

In this case if the owner isn't around to fire some shots then Tibetan Mastiff won't be able to stand in between them and the prey for long.

As we explained earlier Asiatic wolves are a lot smaller as compared to the grey wolves and one on one some Tibetan Mastiffs may be able to dominate the wolf but chances are rare.

Having said that it doesn't mean that no dog is able to take down Asiatic wolves or even kill them.

There are several dog breeds that would be able to fight off Asiatic wolves , however, there may be very very few that can stand a chance against a gray wolf.
