5. Spider Fear

Those of you who watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians probably know that Kim has dealt with spider fear for a long time. But, did you know that Kourtney has also been terrified of the eight-legged critters for almost her whole life? Apparently, when she was just a kid, she watched the film Arachnophobia with her dad. During the wee hours of the night, he put fake spiders inside her bed. When she woke up and saw them, it marked the beginning of her fear. In 2018, her nightmares were made into a reality when tarantulas invaded her house. One Keeping Up episode shows the giant spiders in action, walking across Kourtney’s backyard. She had pest control come before that, but it didn’t put a stop to the hairy arachnids. When she called them again during the episode to have her house sprayed again, the pest guys informed her that it was tarantula mating season. Yikes! They noted that it would take a long time to get rid of the spiders since they were out and about and breeding. Kourtney said, “I just will not feel comfortable until these tarantulas are fully gone.” I don’t think any of us could be able to sleep peacefully in this situation.

4. Butter

The first thing you’re going to think when you hear this one is “Um… ew!” But, hear Kourtney out before you jump to conclusions. She drinks ghee every morning. For those of you who don’t know, ghee is a type of clarified butter that was created in India. Essentially, yes, it is the same stuff you dip your crab legs in. In 2016, Kourtney noted, “Ghee is the first thing I put in my body every morning. I take one big teaspoon of ghee every morning and melt it on the stove in a pan and drink it out of a cute little ceramic cup. After I take it, I don’t eat anything for twenty minutes, and then I drink a glass of water before eating food.” Sorry, Kourtney, but, just because you put it in a cute cup doesn’t make it any less disgusting-sounding. However, she believes there’s a good reason for doing this. She said it’s a “healthy fat, like coconut oil, meaning the fatty acids are absorbed directly into the liver and burnt as energy.” She added that she and her family use it for more than a morning beverage, stating, “We make French toast, grilled cheese sandwiches, quesadillas, basically anything we can with ghee.” Unfortunately, the science doesn’t really back Kourt’s claim. A coauthor of the book The Calendar Diet: A Month-by-Month Guide to Losing Weight While Living Your Life named Karen Ansel pointed out, “Ghee is almost entirely fat and a large chunk of that fat is saturated fat, known to raise levels of harmful LDL cholesterol, which is linked to heart disease.” Okay, so, maybe we were right to judge immediately. But, ghee seems to be working for Kourtney; so, more power to her!
