MT MANASLU WINTER EXPEDITION 2021 - SIMONE MORO & ALEX TXIKON TO SUMMIT PUSH OF MT MANASLU

Unsuccessful attempt alpine-style climbing Mt Manaslu winter expedition 2021 by 2 Nepalese and team of Simone Moro and Alex Texikon are waiting for a summit push Mt Manaslu in this winter. Let’s hope they will make it a successful attempt at winter expedition 2021 of MT Manaslu. When Nepali teams were en route to Pakistan for a record-setting winter ascent of Mt K2, right in their own backyard, two Nepali climbers were preparing to make the record local. Climbing Mt Manaslu this winter in alpine style without supplementary oxygen.

Nepali team created history in Pakistan climbing K2 in winter for the very first time, we are so proud of them, they made our country proud and motivated young Nepali climbers. “At the same time 2 Nepalese climbers who were trying to climb mt Manaslu 8156m 8 highest mountain in the world in alpine style, they could not make it to the summit due to harsh weather and they gave up.
Alpine climber Vinayak Jay Malla said, For 5 weeks, we tried our best, motivated, healthy, and well on track to summit Manaslu in winter without supplementary oxygen, light and fast, we encountered an impassable crevasse last week. We changed the route, with that, the snow conditions, and the forecast ahead, unfortunately, our goal to climb in alpine style is not possible this season.
The 53-year-old Italian climber Simone Moro and the 38-year-old Spaniard climber Alex Txikon, both are proven winter climbing specialists. Simone Moro, Alex Txikon with the team, supported by Nepalese Sherpa – are also waiting at base camp for the high-altitude storms to subside. They have set their sights not only on the winter ascent of Manaslu but also of the 7,992-meter-high nearby Pinnacle East, without bottled oxygen.
They made the Third rotation with excellent sensations following the alpine route! They reached 6,650m, on Feb 3. Alex added I’m dead but sooo happy!!! Now we have to rest at BC. The next few days, if the weather continues like this, could be crucial!!
Very strong winds wiped out part of their Base Camp on Feb 7, Team of climbers worked all day to repair, fix their tents and everything, now The expedition can be continued.
Mountaineer Alex said it has been snowing in the Manaslu region and the temperature has dropped. So hot meal has been prepared for us by our camping crew, we are enjoying hot meals, snowy weather, and the company of the team. I'm super motivated, as soon as the weather gets better we will begins our climb to summit push.
Finally, Alex tixkon group left and reached Camp 1 on Feb 10, and another team including Simone Moro planning to catch up with the team Alex and start climbing on Feb 11. First group team Alex should have moved from Camp 1on Feb 11, but they couldn't because it started snowing. Alex said they reached camp 1 without any problem but a strong snowstorm and very cold. They had to put a lot of effort because they had to reopen the track. As still snowing in the mountain they are in a wait to get better weather conditions.

Alex added, if it keeps going like this, we're starting to worry. We're making our plans, but it looks like the weather has another goal.
