"#409. The Poacher’s Knot is a noose used in snaring various game. A little stockade is built across a spot where woodcock or partridge are accustomed to pass. The Poachers Knot or Scaffold Knot is really a double overhand noose. The Poachers Knot can be tied in almost any material, from monofilament small rope and even bungee cord. This knot creates a great noose by which the slipping ability of the noose is adjusted by the tightness of the knot.

Because this knot holds extremely well when tight and under load as small nylon or metal eye can be inserted to act as a temporary hard eye.
