The Supremes - Mother Dear [Alternate Re-recorded Version]
Alternate re-recorded version of a song first released on the groups 1965 album "More Hits by The Supremes".
Mother Dear was intended to be released as a single after "Nothing But Heartaches" but as Nothing But Heartaches broke the string of 5 #1s the group recorded consecutively during that time the release of Mother Dear was cancelled as it had a similar sound.
This version according to "The Supremes [Box Set]" was recorded in 1966 and is the next song after "You Cant Hurry Love" implying it was probably recorded in the sessions from The Supremes "A Go-Go" album or "The Supremes Sing Holland-Dozier-Holland" album. The date is also supported by the more up-beat sound that is reminiscent of one of the singles being released in 1966 by the group entitled "Love Is Like An Itching In My Heart".
Vocals: The Supremes
- Lead: Diana Ross
- Backing: Florence Ballard & Mary Wilson
