Lima Group calls on Russia, Turkey to back transition to democracy in Venezuela

The Lima Group regional bloc, which supports the opposition in Venezuela, called on Russia and Turkey to switch sides and back a transition to democracy in the OPEC-member nation.

The Lima Group regional bloc gathered on Friday (May 03) in Lima, Peru following two days of chaos in Venezuela after opposition leader Juan Guaido called for an uprising on April 30.

The bloc of about a dozen countries, including Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, added in a joint statement in Spanish following a meeting in Peru that it decided to help Cuba participate in the search for an end to the crisis in Venezuela.
