Most of us grew up thinking bigger is better, and our communities, homes, businesses and way we lived followed that philosophy. Jim Heid turns that idea upside down in this engaging talk as he reminds us of what is truly important and the joy we get from the small things in life. An urbanist and environment entrepreneur focused on the tools and techniques that create more sustainable communities, Jim has advised government agencies, real estate companies and legacy landowners across the globe for over two decades. In 2017, he founded a real estate development company focused on intentional place-building. He has done projects in his hometown of Healdsburg to demonstrate the concepts in his new book – Building Small: A Handbook for Real Estate Entrepreneurs, Civic Leaders and Great Communities This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
