How To Properly Clean your PS4 Controller

Cleaning your Sony Playstation 4 (PS4) Controller will not only keep it looking like new, but also help prevent/fix common problems. PS4 Dualshock 4 Controllers suffering from the infamous stick drift / analog drift can be fixed by simply cleaning the thumbsticks in some cases. Other common problems with dirty PlayStation 4 controller are sticky buttons, worn thumbsticks, sticky or non functional trigger buttons (L1/R1 and L2/R2) and problems charging. This tutorial does not require disassembly of your PS4 Dual Shock 4 (DS4) controller. As a bonus, I will also show you how to clean and patch up your worn thumbsticks rubber grip. This easy to follow tutorial is going to be divided into 4 parts with a complete list of links for everything you need.

Part 1: Removing the bulk of the dust and dirt is the best place to start when cleaning your Dirty PS4 Controller. I would recommend you use a microfiber towel and isopropyl alc to avoid damaging your controller and for best cleaning results.
Part 2: Buttons Cleaning
Cleaning your PS4 Controller buttons will not only make them look like new, but also fix sticky buttons and even unresponsive ones. This is a great fix for those having this issue. Same thing will fix touchpad that have too much dirt/dust stuck in between the gaps. Using a toothpick will actually help get into those hard to reach places. The rubber tops and base of of the trigger buttons can safely be cleaned with the isopropyl alc and even fix the common stick drift / analog controller drift on your PS4 controller. If your having issues with unresponsive or sticking trigger buttons (L1/L2 and R1/R2) cleaning it using this method will fix your issue in most cases.
Part 3: Ever notice all the gunk that gets trapped between the controller shell? The simple toothpick trick should take care of it!
Part 4: Cleaning the ports is a great way to keep your PS4 controller functioning properly. If you’re having issues with your headphone jack port, EXT port or need to know how to fix your PS4 controller that won’t charge, properly cleaning the ports will in most cases fix your issues. Giving the controller one final wipe down to remove any debris that might have popped up during the cleaning will give the controller a fresh clean look.
BONUIS: Using the super glue trick will easily patch your Sony Playstation 4 Dual Shock controller rubber tops on the analog sticks.

EXTRA TIPS
-[Optional] Safely turn off and disconnect your Ps4 console from the power. Otherwise as your cleaning your controller, you will constantly be turning on and launching random apps as your cleaning your controller... It gets very annoying.
-Always use Isopropyl / Rubbing Alcohol thats as close to 100% as possible. The closer it is, the safer it will be for electronics.
-Microfiber towels are always best to use when wiping down. Soft cloths like the ones used for cleaning glasses work great as well. Both of those options will greatly reduce the chances of scratching the glossy parts.
