Celebrating Celan at 100
On November 23, 2020, NYU Center for the Humanities and Deutsches Haus at NYU presented "Celebrating Celan at 100," a virtual tribute to one of the world's most acclaimed poets and thinkers, on the 100th anniversary of his birth, on November 23. Reflecting the vibrant community of people who read and think and write and create with Celan around the world and in many tongues, this celebration will feature a diverse range of (live and prerecorded) voices showcasing the range of academic and creative approaches to and interests in Celan's superb work.
The event was introduced (live) by Ulrich Baer, Juliane Camfield, Amir Eshel, and Nitzan Lebovic and was followed by prerecorded video tributes by the following contributors: Paul Auster, Ulrich Baer, Charles Bambach, Susan Bernofsky, Charles Bernstein, Helmut Boettiger, Anibal Campos, Chiara Caradonna, Jorge de Freitas, Amir Eshel, Sidra DeKoven Ezrahi, Ruth Franklin, Saul Friedländer, Reem Ghanayem, Michal Govrin, Marianne Hirsch, Christine Ivanovic, Pierre Joris, Anja Kampmann, Robert Kaufman, Nitzan Lebovic, Michael Levine, Vivian Liska, Marko Pajevic, Marjorie Perloff, Kristin Rebien, Na'ama Rokem, Galili Shahar, Thomas Sparr, Rochelle Tobias, Rosmarie Waldrop, Matthias Weichelt, and Sandro Zanetti.
