Canadian Banks - Top Bank Stocks for Dividends 2020

With the markets at its highs mostly driven by tech stocks, I try to look for opportunities in stocks that haven’t quite recovered from the pandemic yet. One such sector is the financials; with interest rates at its lows it has really affected the profitability of banks. Interest rates and bank profitability are related, as banks can take advantage of the difference between the rate they pay to their customers and the rate they can earn. With this pandemic still ongoing and the economy still trying to recover, the central bank has kept interest rates low to help stimulate the economy; till the economy recovers I predict interest rates will stay low, which will continue to hurt the profitability of banks. But when the economy does recover I do expect interest rate to normalize, which should help boost profitability of banks.
