I love dividend stocks but most only pay dividends on a quarterly basis. The problem is, if you’re just looking at a monthly dividend stocks list, you’re seeing mostly BDCs, REITs and closed-end funds.

That’s a dangerous way to invest!

The problem with investing in a lot of BDCs and REITs for those monthly dividend payments is the same economic forces affect both. If interest rates drop fast, both of these types of dividend stocks could fall and start cutting that cash payout.

As bad as that is, the hidden risks are even greater for closed-end funds. These dividend yield traps catch investors with high dividend yields of 12% and higher but you end up losing more money from the plunging stock price. These dividend funds are also some of the most expensive investments with fees more than double other funds.
