Happy Hips - Mobility Routine | Yoga With Sarah White

Time to talk hips. And a subject that been bothering me for a while.

It seems in yoga classes today there is so much emphasis on “deep hip opening”; people just sat there, hanging out in there hips willing them to open! Truth is your loosing the integrity of the joint. Yes I understand everyone is after that perfect chest to the floor forward fold but what happens when you get there and you’re unable to lift yourself up unassisted?
Is flexibility worth it if your lacking the strength to move in that plane? Not to mention your very own genetic makeup of how deep your hip socket is (how far in the femur sits) could be resisting the process.
My answer to all of this: THIS VIDEO.
In it I try to work the mobility of the joint, including its range of motion and strength along with a healthy stretch. Keeping your hips moving and more importantly healthy!
Oh and for the record, working my hips in this way has given me so much more range as compared to stretching alone.
