Russian Folk Tales for Intermediate Learners: По щучьему велению (Emelya the Simpleton)
Welcome to the next episode of my Russian Folk Tales lessons series for intermediate learners!
Have you heard the Russian expression "по щучьему велению"? Do you know who Емеля is?
Today you'll hear (and watch) one of the most famous Russian folk tales, which is a story about Emelya the Fool and a Pike-magician. There are some other versions of the story; the one I'm telling you today is the most well-known here in Russia, although I'm sure you could find other variants on the internet.
