Reversible and Lined “Lonestar” Patchwork Quilted Jacket in the Heather Style

Model, Carsyn, is 5 foot 8 inches tall.

I made this jacket from a handmade patchwork vintage quilt in the “Lonestar” patchwork pattern. The layers of were quilted using a longarm sewing machine. I lined the (thin) quilt with new blue tonal fabric making this jacket reversible.

All my jackets are made by me personally and I created this jacket style in conjunction with Heather Harris, owner of “Meanwhile Back on the Farm,” who wanted a relaxed fit that showed all the beautiful patchwork of a handmade quilt. The styling of the jacket is designed to be oversized creating the option for layering and fitting multiple sizes.

Features:
I am a huge fan of pockets but I don’t want to cover the beautiful patchwork pattern of the quilt, so you will find the outside pockets placed within the side seams of the jacket. The pouches of the pockets (shaped as squares) are sewn to the reverse side of the jacket to create patch pockets making this jacket reversible. All inside seams are finished/covered with binding fabric creating a finished look on the reverse of the jacket. The sleeves were designed to be long enough to keep your hands warm or rolled up as cuffs.

Sizing:
Sleeve length measured from neck edge: 33 inches (cuff can be rolled to adjust sleeve length)
Back neck edge to hem: 29 inches
Pit to pit: 30 inches – check an item of clothing that fits you well to compare for sizing but this jacket is meant to be oversized.

Cleaning For Vintage Quilted Coats/Jackets:
I washed this jacket following construction by first turning it “inside out” and using the gentle/cold water setting in my washing machine using “gentle” laundry detergent, partially dried on a cool setting and laid flat to dry.
