Quebec singer Charlotte Cardin was named female artist of the year at France’s Victoires de la Musique, becoming the first Quebecer to win the category since 2003. The Paris-based artist accepted the prize after performing at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt. Cardin, who grew up in Ville Mont-Royal and began modeling at 15, rose to prominence after finishing on La Voix in 2013; her debut album Phoenix earned four Juno Awards in 2022, including Artist of the Year. In France, she also took home trophies for best song and best audiovisual creation for Tant pis pour elle, a September release. Cardin has accumulated six Junos and three Félix awards and sings in both French and English. Federal Culture Minister Marc Miller congratulated her on X, praising Quebec and Canada’s talent. The victory marks a notable milestone for Quebec music on the international stage.
