Urban water demand management : water metering PART 2 (in Kannada)

Mr Krishnamurthy of GK Plumbing works (phone no: 09845682355) is helping Krystal campus actually retrofit and implement household level water metering. Mr Krishnamurthy explains proudly that he has a tie up with the water meter company and that they provide warranties and after sales servicing. He says that in the last 7 years he has metered 33 apartment complexes in Bangalore and a couple in Hyderabad ranging from small apartments to big ones of upto 250 households each. This has now become his full time occupation - just retrofitting water meters !. As on date (March 2016) he says simple but good quality manual meters cost around Rs 13000/- to Rs 15000/- per household of the apartment complex including plumbing changes. He says in his experience those who have implemented metering have subsequently seen a reduction of upto 40% of water demand. It is because of the services of people like Mr Krishnamurthy's that the city is able to solve its problems and manage its water.
