This painting tutorial will take you through easy to follow, step-by-step instructions on how to paint this beautiful seascape image of "Mermaid's Message in a Bottle". MATERIALS:
Canvas: 16x20 stretched primed canvas
Brushes: 1/2 flat bristle (large), #7 round (medium), #1 round (small)
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, burnt umber (brown), deep yellow, cobalt blue, fluorescent pink, burnt sienna
Other: palette, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint sky with brown, blue, yellow and white
2. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Paint water with black, brown, blue, yellow and white
3. #7 round brush - Paint 1st layer of the fish part with black, brown, blue and white
4. #7 round brush - Paint 1st layer of mermaid skin with burnt sienna
5. #7 round brush - Finish fish part with dark blue, pink and white
6. #7 round brush - Paint shadows in water with black
7. #1 round brush - Paint outline of bottle with black
8. #1 round brush - Finish face with pink, burnt sienna, yellow, black and white
9. #1 round brush - Finish bottle with brown, white, black, yellow, pink and blue
10. #7 round brush - Finish arm with brown, burnt sienna, yellow, white and pink
11. #7 round brush - Paint 1st layer of hair with brown
12. 1/2 inch bristle brush - Finish water with skin color, dark blue, burnt sienna, yellow, pink, black, brown and white
13. #7 round brush - Finish hair with brown, white, yellow and burnt sienna
14. #1 round brush - Sign with black
