JULIE LONDON: "NIGHT LIFE" (1964)
[PLEASE READ] Julie performs the Willie Nelson classic on Bob Hope's Comedy Special, sponsored by Chrysler. Original airdate: February 14, 1964.
To hear the most stunning studio version of this song, please consult the 2010 Japanese-import CD release of Julie's LP: YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A BABY TO CRY.
Julie remains one of the finest, most distinctive song stylists in the history of American popular music and she is my personal favorite.
In the staged dialogue with Bob Hope following her number, Julie mentions having twins. These were her twin sons, Jody and Reese. She later refers to "Bobby." This was Bobby Troup, Julie's husband as well as one of jazz's most passionate contributors and ambassadors.
IMPORTANT: This is a video sampler of goodwill and great admiration. If you are a professional and want credit I've neglected to give OR prefer that I delete this video, please let me know. Thank you.
