I Visited Kurchatov – Kazakhstan’s Forgotten Nuclear Ghost Town 🇰🇿

- PART 2 - Kurchatov:
A secret Soviet city, built specifically in 1947 to support the nuclear weapons program.
Located right next to the Polygon test site.
Named after Igor Kurchatov, the lead physicist behind the Soviet atomic bomb. Housed scientists, engineers, military personnel, and their families - it was a restricted-access town, not shown on maps.

Today, it’s partially abandoned but still has a small population and limited nuclear research activity.

If you haven’t seen it yet, I also visited The Polygon, just a few kilometers from here — the most bombed place on Earth.
