We Surprised College Park Elementary Students With Sunglasses & Popsicles!
Hi, everybody! It is a beautiful day here at College Park Elementary School in Virginia Beach, and we are here to celebrate the last day of summer school. My name is Janaye Jordan and I'm creative coordinator at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers, and I'm here with Mrs. Huff, who is the literacy specialist and the summer school coordinator at College Park.
So, Mrs. Huff, can you just talk to us a bit about what you're doing here to celebrate the last day of summer school?
Yes, on our last day here at College Park, we are making sure that our babies, our students, have everything they need to continue learning throughout the summer. So our young ones and our 5th graders going on to middle school, pre-K through 5th, they're coming down and they're grabbing reading packets, math packets, they're getting array of books of their choices, they're getting a toolbox, and we just have so many other items for them take home with them this last day of summer camp so that learning can continue. So we want the best for our students; thank you for asking. Of course, that it is amazing.
And look, you don't see the kids here, they've been in and out all morning grabbing these materials. They are so excited, they're so cute to see. We've also brought out some popsicles and sunglasses for the kids, just to help them celebrate- as you can imagine they're excited about those popsicles and the sunglasses, but more importantly, what they're getting to take home with them over the summer will help enhance their reading and prepare them for the next school year.
So, speaking of the next school year which is in a couple of weeks, how can our friends at Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers help support your STEM and reading initiatives here at College Park?
Oh yes, our students, we can never put enough books in their hands. We understand that according to the Covid thing, right, parents and guests and those from outside are not yet allowed into the building. However, it would be a wonderful thing to even connect and do some things virtually. We want to still push that STEM initiative here in Virginia Beach, and our students and our teachers are always in need of resources to help promote the STEM. So that would be a great way if we could have support with those additional resources. We have so many great ideas of how to incorporate STEM into the learning. But definitely doing something virtual and actually making sure that our babies have the resources and our teachers have what they need to promote learning.
Excellent. Excellent. So everybody, check out the website; it's at the bottom of our screen right now so you can see how you can support all of the great work that the educators and administrators are doing here at College Park. Again, thank you so much for having us. It's been a pleasure hanging out with these kids and handing out our popsicles, sunglasses, and seeing them pick up these amazing reading materials.
So again, thank you so much for watching, guys. Don't forget, we do so much in the community to support youth and education in Hampton Roads. It's a strong passion of our partners and our attorneys. So thank you so much for supporting us and we always look forward to seeing you again at a new location, a new school.
