How Were Nukes Invented? The Manhattan Project

This is the history of nuclear weapons and the Manhattan Project under J. Robert Oppenheimer. The atom bomb has only been used twice in history; this is the path that led to its creation and the status of nuclear weapons today.

The physics behind nuclear weapons was first discovered in the late 1800s. Advances occurred rapidly and by 1945, the first atom bomb was ready. The existence of the nuclear weapon continued to affect international politics and diplomacy for decades. Today, atomic physics continues to have various applications in the form of nuclear missiles and nuclear energy.
