Africa Twin DCT Hand-brake Park-brake upgrade mod CRF1000D 4K

in this video Meerkat1 shares her Africa Twin DCT hand-brake park-brake upgrade mod with owners of DCT. Once installed and correctly adjusted using the original cable adjuster, this mod improves slow-speed control and maneuverability her 2017 DCT, especially in crawl-speed balance rider situations below 20kph. This simple inexpensive 2Meerkat mod brings your DCT left park brake lever closer to the rider thereby transforming it into a hand-operated brake. This cheap mod allows the Africa Twin DCT's low RPM drive train to be tamed and become far more predictable. This is especially useful in the transition phase between feet-down to riding feet up and balancing the Africa Twin whilst steering around obstacles. After doing this mod, it's still just as useful to her 2 years later. The left-side hand brake offer the rider more feel, as the human hand has more finesse than the foot isolated inside a thick and rigid MX boot.

This 2Meerkats mod requires BarkBuster guards or a similar brand of guard to mount the blocker. Important note FYI - The DCT honda has in fact got 2 sets of independent rear calipers (see video) , the cable operated brake being 100% independent of ALL ABS systems. So if the lever is pulled too hard the rear wheel will lock up even if ABS is on. This is actually a good thing for educated riders as the security of ABS in normal braking is maintained, whilst still allowing the skilled offroad DCT gravel rider to step the rear OUT, using advanced rear-wheel steering.

This mod comes almost naturally to mountain bike riders as they familiar with rear-wheel braking using their left hand like UK and AUS but USA is the rear brake is on the right on bicycles ie opposite afik.
