Magicshine Allty 2000 LED Bike Light Review - feat. DRL + OLED Display + Garmin Mount
The Magicshine Allty 2000 headlight illustrates just how far we’ve come in terms of advancement. Not only does the Allty 2000 incorporate two Cree XM-L2 V60 LEDs, but there is an additional low-output LED designed to be used as a day-time-running-light (DRL). With a retail price of $149.99, the Allty 2000 is aimed at cyclists or commuters who want a high-powered all-in-one headlight.
The modern exterior design is complemented by the three light element design and a built-in Garmin style quarter turn mount. This makes the Allty 2000 a top choice for those running out-in-front style Garmin mounts, as you don’t need an additional adapter to mount the light. The light is also rated at IPX5 and is powered by two 18650 Li-ion batteries with a micro USB charging port. The Li-ion batteries uses a cartridge style encasing for 3500 mAh of power and runtimes that range from 14.5 hours for DRL only down to 1 hour for the full 2000 lumen output.
With the added DRL, the Magicshine Allty 2000 has a total of 5 unique output modes. The modes are: DRL only, DRL + left LED, DRL + right LED, DRL + both LEDs and finally the DRL + both LEDs flashing. On top of this, everything but the DRL-only-mode have 4 different power settings (25% - 100%). Together, this means the Allty 2000 boasts an impressive (or impractical depending on how you look at it) 17 different mode options. The OLED display screen does show the output mode with a simple circle display, but does not indicate the power output setting aside from the runtime display decreasing on higher modes. On the road, it’s often difficult to tell the left/right LEDs modes apart, and you can easily get lost in the different power settings.
Overall, the Magicshine Allty 2000 is an impressive commuter light. Magicshine has addressed a lot of the weak points of the Monteer 1400 resulting in a feature packed and modern commuter light. With the dual LED and DRL design, the Allty 2000 is great for both daytime and nighttime riding. Also, the integrated Garmin mount and OLED screen are both highly desirable features at this price point. While we wish the Allty 2000 had replaceable battery cells and simplified output modes, it’s a great improvement over their previous commuter lights and one of the best all-in-one lights we’ve tested yet.
