How to Build a DEPLOYMENT PIPELINE? (Continuous Delivery)

The Deployment Pipeline is a central, organising idea in a Continuous Delivery and DevOps focussed approach to modern software engineering. The idea of the Deployment Pipeline was developed on one of the largest agile projects of the day, carried out by software consultancy ThoughtWorks in the early 2000s, it was first publicly described in a talk at a GOTO conference in London, given by Dave Farley and then explained in detail in Dave's and Jez Humble’s seminal book “Continuous Delivery’”. It is now a cornerstone of a modern software development approach.

Pipelines can be big, complex and sophisticated, but how do you get started? What is a Deployment Pipeline, what is a minimal Pipeline and how do you build your first Continuous Delivery Pipeline?

In this episode, Dave describes how to get started building a simple pipeline that can evolve and develop to become your only route to production.
