WOULDN'T IT BE LOVERLY? / I COULD HAVE DANCED ALL NIGHT | Stephanie Trick & Paolo Alderighi

We hope you enjoy our new four-hands arrangement of two songs that Eliza Doolittle sang in the excellent musical by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe, "My Fair Lady."

The adaptation from George Bernard Shaw's wordy play to musical was a task that perplexed songwriting teams (like Rodgers and Hammerstein) before Lerner and Loewe tackled it in 1956. There are no big chorus or dancing scenes, no traditional love story, no sub-plot, and there was a LOT of dialogue. Lerner and Loewe realized that it would all work out if they embraced Shaw's verbosity, which they did, incorporating large portions of Shaw's original text into their libretto. "My Fair Lady" is often referred to as a perfect musical.
