Taking a walking break- I stumbled upon Mayan traditional dancers preparing to perform on the beach in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. After watching this performance- it stuck with me. While I was fully aware of my interpretation- I proceeded to do some research after and this is what I found.
The Mayan tribal dance is an ancient tradition, believed to have been passed down for generations. The dance is a representation of the Mayan's beliefs and culture. The dance ritual is used to honor their ancestors and celebrate life! How awesome is that!! It is also believed to be a form of communication, as the movements and rhythms are thought to convey messages and stories.

The dance consists of a variety of steps and motions that are performed in a circular formation. The dance often involves props such as drums, bells, and rattles and is accompanied by chanting and singing. All were present here, as well as fire. It is a beautiful and vibrant ritual that has been passed down for centuries and is still performed today.
