Let's Play Doom 3: BFG - Part 37 - Erebus Dig Site

Since the Artifact looks like a heart, I'm just gonna call it the Hell Heart. In this level, we encounter the first of the Hell Hunters, the Helltime Hunter. He can't be killed with our weapons, but we can throw energy projectiles back at him with the Grabber. Killing him allows our Hell Heart to be activated. We can use it up to three times, but each use must be recharged by absorbing a Human Soul from a Corpse. Sorry to say, but skeletons don't count and neither do nongibbed zombies. Using the Hell Heart at its current level grants us the power of Helltime, which means we can slow down time to avoid traps and obstacles or make certain fights short work.
