John Akinde's 25th minute penalty gave the Bees a surprise lead on 25 minutes, after Tom Davies' handball in the box.

But Conor Chaplin - celebrating his first start of the season - struck ten minutes later, as he latched onto Gary Roberts' pass to fire home from a tight angle.

And Roberts himself got on the scoresheet just after the break, as he exquisitely turned his defender before slotting past the keeper with the outside of his left boot.

Carl Baker made it 3-1 on 55 minutes, curling home from outside the area.

Roberts had the chance to put the game to bed on 63 minutes, as Chaplin was felled in the box by Mira Dembele, but his spot kick was saved.

With Barnet down to ten men, both substitute Milan Lalkovic and Danny Rose scored their first for the club in the closing stages, as Pompey added gloss to their performance, finishing at 5-1.
