The restaurant industry has been hit especially hard during this crazy 2020, and now they are begging Congress for more fiscal disaster relief to save upwards of 500,000 dining establishments.

National Restaurant Association (NRA) executive Sean Kennedy wrote a letter to Congress explaining: "In short, the restaurant industry simply cannot wait for relief any longer."

He continued: "Efforts in Washington to find the 'perfect' solution are laudable, but the lack of progress in the meantime has led too many operators to give up on the government and close down for good. Since our last update to you, less than three months ago, an additional 10,000 restaurants have closed nationwide."

The NRA suggests that Congress approves: “A 20-25% revenue loss threshold to allow more than 400,000 suffering restaurants to take out a second Paycheck Protection Program loan.”

This sounds like a great plan to me, because the death of 500,000 restaurants means millions of jobs lost, as well as the backbone of so many communities across America.

Meanwhile, a recent report from CNBC explains that you could be fired or laid off from your job if you do not receive the vaccine when it is readily available.

Rogge Dunn, a Dallas labor and employment attorney, explained: “Under the law, an employer can force an employee to get vaccinated, and if they don’t take it, fire them.”

He continued: “A couple of my corporate clients are leaning toward making the vaccine mandatory.”

Dunn also stated that companies may use it as a PR tactic: “They could say to their customers, ‘Hey, our restaurant is safe. All of our employees have been vaccinated.’”

I guess we’ll have to wait and see when the vaccine is readily available, and at the very least, these companies should pay for their employees to get immunized.

Finally, I talked yesterday about the great state of New Jersey offering an additional 20 weeks of unemployment benefits.

Fortunately, after doing some more research, I found even more states offering or applying for an extra 20 weeks of PUA or UI unemployment funds.

I’m hearing that the great state of California will be applying for 20 more weeks of unemployment funds, joining the following states in providing the added boost: Alaska, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington.

This is great news for unemployment claimants in these states, and I just hope that Congress can pass extended enhanced unemployment benefits to help all the other states get their citizens some much needed fiscal disaster relief.

If you still haven’t applied for unemployment assistance, begin the week on a high note and apply today.

Visit your state’s PUA or UI website, show them your employment history, and let them know that you’ve been out of work due to that thing out there.
