The first three-story house on the site was built in 1783 in the style of early classicism.
In 1895, the house was bought by the Azov Commercial Bank , opened by a major banker Y. S. Polyakov. In 1896-1898 specifically for the bank, the existing building was erected - arch. B.I. Girshovich.
In 1902, the Azov Commercial Bank was closed. The building passed to the newly created Northern Bank .
In 1910, the Northern Bank merged with the Russo-Chinese Bank, forming the Russo-Asian Bank , acc. commercial Bank. This new bank is located in the same building. The new bank was headed by A. Putilov. The bank financed the Putilov factory and other defence enterprises.
The operating room - Banking Hall and the main staircase were expanded in 1909-1910. arch. A.K. Spiegel.

In Soviet times, a bank was also located here. Since 1925, Lenzhilpromkomplekt CJSC worked in the building, supplying construction and finishing materials. In 2000, the house was adapted for the large clothing store Nevsky Podium, then Plato. In 2003, it was transferred to the Book House store. Present use as the International Brand - Zara.

The facade of the house is lined with Radom sandstone.

The lower two floors are decorated with arched windows, the upper - double.

Of the two lateral risalits, one is completed by an attic and an onion pediment with a mask of Mercury.
