Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau attended a vigil for Israel at a Jewish Community Centre in Ottawa on Monday, expressing his support for Israel.

“First, let me begin by being absolutely clear: Canada unequivocally and in the strongest possible terms, condemns these terrorist attacks perpetrated by Hamas. We stand with Israel and reaffirm our support for Israel's right to defend itself in accordance with international law,” Trudeau said, describing the attacks as “brutal and horrific.”

"Hamas terrorists aren't a resistance. They're not freedom fighters. They are terrorists. And no one in Canada should be supporting them, much less celebrating them," Trudeau said.

Around 800 people, including 73 soldiers, have been killed in Israel, and 493 people have been killed in Gaza, according to authorities on each side on Monday. The unprecedented Saturday attack by Hamas militants has been called the deadliest in the country in years.
