Danish Distiller Issues Call for Peace between Denmark and Canada, Threatens to Stop Distilling

The governments of Denmark and Canada have been engaged in a "gentlemen's war" for more than 90 years over Hans Island. It's a small island on the border between Greenland and Canada, and both countries claim it as their territory. As each side "invades" the island to reclaim it, they leave behind a bottle of either Canadian Whisky or Danish aquavit along with their flag. Now, the founders of Denmark's Stauning Distillery are saying "enough is enough" after nine decades, and want the two sides to resolve the future of Hans Island once and for all. They're threatening to stop distilling on World Whisky Day in May, and are calling for other distillers to join them in a #whiskypeace movement. WhiskyCast's Mark Gillespie talked with Stauning's Rasmus Bendtsen about the movement.
