May Co: From prospector shop to retail empire- The Story of S2E3

On February 28 of 2005, the May Company would see that exact fate when they would be acquired by Federated Department Stores inc, who would swiftly rebrand all their stores to Macy’s department stores. The May Co was founded in the latter 1800’s during the Colorado gold rush. Over the century that followed they would see massive prosperity and quick growth due to their eye-catching product lineups and marketing. However by 2006 the once thriving company would no longer exist, losing all but one of their many subsidiaries. So what happened to May Co? That’s what we’ll be diving into on tonight’s episode of the story of.
