Thoracoscopic (VATS) lung biopsy - Dr Deepraj Bhandarkar

This video depicts a thoracoscopic lung biopsy performed by Dr Deepraj Bhandarkar in a patient suspected to have interstitial lung disease. Patients who have a suspicious lesion in an area of lung or have widely distributed lesions in both the lungs may require a lung biopsy. The clinical presentation along with the features on a high-resolution chest CT provides a diagnosis in several patients suspected to have interstitial lung disease. A proportion of patients in whom the diagnosis cannot be reached require a lung biopsy. As compared to open lung biopsy, a thoracoscopic lung biopsy allows the patients to recover faster and with less postoperative pain.
