Cheap reptiles are interesting. They seem like inexpensive pets but in the long run they can cost you a fortune. For example, Green Anoles cost about $5 at most pet stores whether it be PetSmart, Petco or another store. Your $5 pet reptile will cost another hundred dollars or better to setup and the diet of crickets, mealworms, Dubia roaches and Black Soldier Fly Larvae will end up costing you every week what the cost of the actual lizard was. Plus the UVB bulb that your lizard needs will need to be changed every six to twelve months. Do lizards need UVB light? Well these ones do. Green iguanas are expensive for these reasons also but also the get to five feet. These are huge lizards! I'm talking massive reptiles green iguanas are! Plus feeding them is just a giant Lizard Mukbang! They eat a lot! Aquatic turtles are the same with the UBV needs but also the water needs to stay clean and that takes a giant turtle aquarium filter pump. We use the Fluval Fx6 aquarium filter and alone that piece of reptile equipment is over $600. These animals are super expensive. It turns out that the cheapest reptiles often turn out to be the most expensive pet reptiles to take care of and keep.
