D&RGW K37 #493 "Comes Alive" 1/24/2020 Part 1

The D&RGW K37 #493 makes its debut after being retired in 1968. 52 years ago. This Part 1 includes scenes from inside the roundhouse, when it whistles off and moves out of the roundhouse and moving around the loop in the yard. Part 2 includes a return to the turntable to turn around and again move around the loop in the yard with engine facing opposite direction to check clearances. Originally built by Baldwin Locomotive Works in 1902 as standard gauge and converted to narrow gauge in 1928 by the D&RGW Denver Burnham Shops. The locomotives was purchased and moved to the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad in 1981. It sat outside on display in Silverton for 20 years. The D&SNGRR's multi-year, multi-million dollar rebuild and conversion to burn oil was to reduce the risk of starting fires during extremely dry condition.
