Mark DuBoise & Cedar Express "Don't Start Smoking Pot" (Country Novelty 45)

Here's a B-side by Mark DuBoise and Cedar Express. Appears to be a private pressing. Judging by the sound of the recording and look of the label, I'd place its vintage around 1968-to-1970.

What it is is a weed-oriented parody of Johnny Cash's 1958 hit "Don't Take Your Guns to Town." Mr. DuBoise sings it like a drunk Roger Miller imitating Cash. Not half bad for a throwaway by somebody who was probably only known locally.
