What's This... A GOOD Sword Fight in a TERRIBLE Movie?!
I'm shocked... A Steven Seagal movie with a weird plot that was 4/10 has surprisingly good, realistic sword fighting. Effective, well executive deflectional parries... that's remarkably rare in film choreography.
On the other hand it also has the stereotypical Hollywood clash, where they lock blades and push angrily, instead of using useful techniques. Which is something I've debunked in this video:
https://youtu.be/acaixdEKdCU
And there are some hilarious parts that contribute to the overall... quality of the viewing experience that I can't help but poke fun at.
Other than that it's actually better than most fight scenes I've seen though. And it even features an often overlooked type of medieval & renaissance sword, the kriegsmesser.
