Automated Container Unloading – DHL pilots Copal solution in the UK

The manual unloading of loose loads from containers is one of the most challenging jobs in logistics; particularly during peak seasons in winter. Aiming to alleviate this pinch point at the DHL Supply Chain Warehouse in Daventry, UK, a collaborative effort led by the team at the DHL Innovation Center in Germany, successfully tested a semi-automated container unloading solution offered by Copal which can unload up to 800 pieces per hour and increased throughput rates by 35% over manual methods. Overall, the solution saw a reduction of 4.4 man-hours per container.
