Bad Bunny is the most popular musician of Latin American trap music at the moment. If you go to Spotify and look at top 2020 Latin songs, you will see the great majority of them are bad bunny.
He is killing it!
You may be asking yourself why bad bunny? Well the origin of his name happened in his childhood. He once wore a bunny custom and there was a picture that I was unable to find but apparently he didn’t look very happy. He was angry. And since then he has been called conejo malo or bad bunny. His given name is Benito Antonio Martinez!

Bad bunny grew up in Puerto Rico, and was first introduced to music through church! Which I find hard to imagine given that his songs today are nothing but Church… I cannot imagine…

Let’s bring this video to that level, and then he finally broke the ceiling of fame when he was featured in the song I like by Cardi B!
And the rest as they say it is history!!!
But okay okay! What about his style, his significance, what are some other things I should know about Bad Bunny!
One of Bad Bunny’s latest albums is called YHLQMDLG…, Which means yo hago lo que me da la gana. I do whatever I want. And that defines who he is!
From painting his fingernails, to dressing like a woman, to lyrics that would make my granda cringe, to his unique set of styles, to using facemasks before COVID-19 was a thing. Bad bunny just does what he wants!
But Even if Latino Baby Boomers or others criticize him and dislike him, Bad Bunny has become influential and important. He has been present in the marches against corruption in Puerto Rico and his Hit Yo Perreo Sola is a song of protest against violence towards the trans community and also a song for women’s rights against harassment!
