KLM 747 Departs Princess Juliana LOW over Maho Beach, Sint Maarten

Maho Beach on Sint Maarten island in the Caribbean is one of the top five plane spotting locations in the world!

And this is why…

A Dutch KLM 747 rolls down a short 7545-foot-long runway at full thrust. The jet is heavy, so the pilot team takes off in rocket mode, all four engines at max.

The cool part is that 747 is going over everybody’s head at less than 200 feet on Maho Beach. They are going to see, hear, and feel the wake turbulence of a heavy airliner passing over them... and they will never forget those sensations.

Those sensations hooked me as a five-year-old kid standing at the end of the Los Angeles International Airport and inspired me to become a pilot.
