Susan Blackmore – May I Offend You? The Clash of Science, Religion, and Free Speech

Susan Blackmore is a psychologist, writer, and Visiting Professor at the University of Plymouth, UK. Her research interests include consciousness, evolutionary theory, memes, meditation, and anomalous experiences.

She has a degree in psychology and physiology from Oxford University (1973), as well as an MSc and a PhD in parapsychology from the University of Surrey (1980). She blogs for The Guardian, and often appears as a guest on radio and television. "The Meme Machine" (1999) has been translated into 16 other languages; her more recent books include "Conversations on Consciousness" (2005), "Zen and the Art of Consciousness" (2011), and a texts book "Consciousness: An Introduction" (2nd Ed 2010).
