Her resume boasts of appearing in Playboy Magazine, acting in the television show Hee Haw, as well as releasing music albums throughout the 1970s and 1980s. In the 1980s she decided to retire from show business to spend time with her family.
Nevertheless, though she retired decades ago she remains an icon of the raucous and vibrant culture of the 1970s and 1980s. Barbi Benton is someone that any pop culture geek should know about.
She first burst into the national consciousness when she appeared in Playboy Magazine. The magazine was only a decade old when she graced the cover of the July 1969 issue. She went on to appear in the magazine another four times.
She soon became one of the country’s most famous models. Her sexiness led her to appear in many films where she showed off her acting chops and her good looks. These included films such as The Naughty Cheerleader, The Great American Beauty Contest, and Deathstalker – among others.
She also entertained us with her original songs which she also wrote and composed. She released 5 music albums between 1975 to 1988. She also became famous for her singles, “Brass Buckles,” “Movie Magazines, Stars in Her Eyes,” “Roll You Like A Wheel,” “Ain’t That Just the Way,” and “Staying Power.”
She proved to be a multifaceted entertainer who could act in film and television, entertain us as herself, sing beautiful songs, and pose for sexy magazines. But she decided to leave it all in the 1980s to raise her children and focus on her family.
This premature retirement can often make even the biggest stars fade away with time. Yet for many of us, Barbi Benton still has incredible appeal and she’s not someone we can forget anytime soon!
