Dictionaries Pulled From Florida School Libraries
Escambia County, located in Florida’s panhandle, has pulled over 1600 books from library shelves, including the dictionary. A spokesperson for the school district says the books have “simply been pulled for further review to ensure compliance with the new legislation." Included on Escambia County’s list of removed books are the "Diary of a Young Girl" by Anne Frank, and "A Tale of Two Cities" by Charles Dickens. It has also pulled at least eight encyclopedias and five dictionaries.
