2023 U.S. Navy Blue Angels Arrive at Oakland for Fleet Week 2023

The United States Navy's Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, arrived at the Oakland Metropolitan Airport (KOAK) on Monday 10/2/2023 in preparation for the annual Fleet Week Airshow in San Francisco. The 6 demonstration pilots along with one of next year's pilots trailing in an F/A-18F arrived in the late morning after a brief transit from the Portland International Airport (KPDX). Fingers crossed, the weather forecast this week is warmer than usual in the Bay Area and is expected to be fairly clear during the days that the airshow is in progress. Last year in 2022 the Blue Angels were unable to perform a single standardized demonstration due to the progressively worsening fog layer each day. This year marks 42 years since Fleet Week began in 1981.
