As a loose natural I exclusively water washed my hair for several months prior to starting locs. I loved the experience. Allowing my hair to fully coat itself with our scalp's natural oil, sebum, helped me combat dryness and also gave my hair a natural shine (like forreal, it was super shiny). I loved it! I wanted to try the water only washing method on my locs hoping I would get a similar result. Five months later, I realize that water only washing is not appropriate for my hair while locked.
