Pan Ji Cooked Food | Sachima (Honey Crackers) | Chinatown Complex

This week, we will be checking out a stall at Chinatown Complex selling handmade Sachima. Sachima is also known as Honey Crackers on the stall's menu. It is a Chinese sweet snack made of fried batter bound together with stiff sugar syrup. Chinatown Complex is easily accessible through the Chinatown MRT, coupled with a few minutes walk.

The name of the stall is called Pan Ji Cooked Food.
It is really not easy to make this type of Chinese traditional snacks by hand, and this particular snack is very difficult to find in Singapore.
From research, Mr Poon, the chef here has been operating his hawker stall since 1983. Despite having a deformity in his left hand, he tirelessly kneads the dough and makes the snacks from scratch everyday. We really have to salute Mr Poon for his dedication to his craft. From reviews, Mr Poon's honey crackers are the best in Singapore and it's not difficult to tell why.
Do show your support and appreciation to elderly hawkers like Mr Poon when you come by Chinatown Complex. The stall opens daily from 8am-3pm, but on popular days, the honey crackers may be sold out by 2pm, so do come early !
The honey crackers comes in three sizes: $3 for small, $6 for medium and $7.50 for big. The honey crackers was crispy and taste very delicious ! It was not too sweet, and the ingredients taste fresh. Definitely highly recommended !
